Clarification is needed, and I apologize for any confusion. Regarding “What to use and when?” NCRA sent out a notice this morning regarding Solid Tumor Rules. I revisited the SEER website, again. https://seer.cancer.gov/tools/solidtumor/

These rules are intended for 8 site groups for cases diagnosed on or after 01/01/2018. In addition, the website states:

The 2007 Multiple Primary & Histology rules will be used with a few small changes for cases diagnosed 1/1/2007 to 12/31/2018 for the following site groups:

• Cutaneous melanoma

Cutaneous melanoma site rules will be revised for 2019 implementation to incorporate information from the new WHO 4th Ed Tumors of Skin scheduled to be released in 2018.

• Other Sites

Other sites rules will be revised for 2019 implementation. The Solid Tumor Task Force has identified the need to expand the rules to include GYN, soft tissue, thyroid and other site-specific solid tumors.

 

As of today, Head and Neck is the only remaining section in draft format. There is a FINAL version in PDF format for all sections, including the Cutaneous Melanoma and Other Sites posted.

FEEDBACK is needed on working with ALL the changes we are facing for 2018. TRAC wants to help by providing meaningful education. Also, NCI-SEER has created a Quality Improvement Experts work group (specifically for SSDIs). Their goal is to address training and reference material needs.
